Creating Variations - Analyzing Versions

Creating Variations - Analyzing Versions

In this mini-workshop, we'll use the reel Star of Munster as a case study in how to create subtle micro-variations in your tunes (on the fly, if you want to). To do this, we'll listen to a few versions of the tune, analyze where, how, and why variations occur, and then practice making our own micro-variations using tiny bits of the tune as templates.

It would be helpful (but not required) for students to know the A part of Star of Munster before coming to class.

Who's this for: Fiddlers
Level: Advanced Beginner through Advanced (Level 3-6)
