The Care, Maintenance, and Upkeep of Fiddles
Having a good luthier to take your instrument to if it develops a major issue is a must...but it's also important for fiddlers/violinists to know basic skills relating to how care, maintenance, and upkeep of their instruments. Often these topics aren't taught in the course of regular lessons, and I'm often asked about them, so I decided to run this one-hour mini-workshop to discuss all the tips and tricks I've learned over the years that keep my instrument operating well on a day-to-day basis.
Note: one of the things we will learn is how to change a string, which doesn't require you to actually have a new string available - we'll just take off and replace one that's already on your instrument, but if you do want to replace your strings this would be a good time to learn to do so and have a new set on hand.
We will also spend a few minutes discussing recommendations for equipment (violins, bows, shoulder rests, strings, rosin, etc. etc.).
